RIP Mandarin Goby

Holding a wake for my mandarin goby tonight.

He died tragically as the result of a slight miscalculation of tank height (who knew mandarins were jumpers???!!!). He was a fine fish, ate mysis, and a better friend my seahorses will never know.

Damnit. I really liked that fish, too.

Re: RIP Mandarin Goby

R.I.P. little fish.
My tank is always covered now, I just don't want to take any more chances, I've had too many jumpers in the past few months
My condolences Shay...

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and you get rid of him all weekend.

Wow, too bad Shay.
Your tank is good and established, are you going to get another?

Re: RIP Mandarin Goby

Thanks, guys!

Louise - the tank is 95% covered with an acrylic strip, I just left a few inches for ventilation & feeding. Never expected anything in that tank to reach the status of Aquarium Olympic High Jumpers. Goes to show, never underestimate the actions of fish and kids!

Charlie - I don't think so, not for a long while... if ever. It was risky putting the little guy in a 44 gallon, and I was so pleased that he was eating frozen mysis with the seahorses I started dancing around the tank (I so need a life!). Despite the fact he was eating frozen mysis, he probably depleted any small population of copepods. I'd have to add more to the tank to support even the thought of another mandarin.
