Question Can you help me identify this?

I am just wondering if anyone can help me identify the "spots" on my Heniochus. They are white, raised spots...some are kind of large..larger than i would expect for ick...but I am not used to saltwater ich so I am not sure about that either. We have had him about 2 weeks and he started with the bigger spot on the the one fin and then I noticed the spots on the anal fin and on the banner. my bristle tooth tankg also had a few little ones. I thought at first they were salt water Ich but now I am not so sure. We did a treatment of Aquarium products QuIck cure and it is not gone. I am not sure that it really is Ich but I don't know that it falls under any of the other conditions either. I have tried to check out all the conditions I could find online and I don't know what to do anymore . I don't want my fish to die. I have been reading posts on here the last few days and now I wish we would have quaranteened, but my fiancee was actually the "knowledgeble" one about fish and started all of our tanks. Now I am dearly inlove with all our tanks and want what is best for our little fishies, so I will have to show him all the threads about quaranteening. anyway if anyone could help me Identify this condition I would really appreciate it. I am attatching a couple of pictures. Thankyou very much!!

...................okay I was going to attatch pictures...but does anyone know how I can do that...I know you can't help identify the problem if you can't see it!!

I don't know what's in that magic potion you used to treat the parasite but the odds are it won't work. You should never treat your system with medicine...always in a q tank and always a medicine recommended by a reputable forum. It it had copper in it it will kill your invertebrates. The best way to treat ich if that's what it is is to remove the fish to a q tank and treat with copper. Leebca has some links in the top of this forum dealing with this procedure. Get us some pics up. When you post go to manage attachments and upload the pics there. They have to be a certain size so if they are too large edit them down with photoshop or something.

Re: Can you help me identify this?

WELCOME TO REEFLAND!

As written by Samper, a picture would be useful and treating the entire marine system isn't usually a good idea. In addition, those kinds of treatments won't usually stop Marine Ich (Cryptocaryon irritans) nor cure fish that have it.

There is a photo here of a fish with Marine Ich you can use for a comparison: Photos of Fish with Marine Ich.

Once you've got the diagnosis right, then we can better recommend a proven cure. If it is Marine Ich, fish can die fairly quickly from this disease and taking quick action is needed if you want to save as many fish as you can.

Also, if you're new to the hobby, then you'll need to get a quarantine tank for all newly acquired fish. Here are a couple of things to read that I recommend you read:

Click "Go Advanced" just below the Quick Reply message box. When the new window comes up, scroll almost to the bottom and you will see another button that says manage attachments. Click this button and browse for your photos.

As a fairly new(relatively speaking) hobbyist that tried to go the easy route and avoid QT, take my advise. QT everything, it's actually the easier route.

Good luck.
