order of fish?
Lee
I have a 3 inch clown trigger with a 4 inch blueface angel (changing) and a few blue damsels in a 150 gallon with a 55 gallon sump. I have a 3 inch emperor and a 5 inch Sohal tang with tail comming out of QT in 2 weeks. Should I take out the fish and rearrage the rocks. thank you |

Re: order of fish?
The Clown Trigger is one of the most belligerent of fishes. It may eventually be unable to live with any other fish.
The 150 gallon tank is unsuitable for large Angelfishes that have transitioned. These fishes that are over 4" long must be in a 300+ and then, shortly thereafter (>8") be housed in 500+ gallon aquariums. In short, large Angelfishes that are in their adult markings are not suitable for home aquariums. This being my belief, I don't think I'd be introducing any large Angels near this size in the 150g you currently have for them. If they are true juveniles, that would be okay. If they are in transition as you have indicated, then they belong in a 300+ gallon aquarium. This will give them growing up space. The most likely problem with be the Clown Trigger. I don't think changing around the landscaping will put it off from being the ruler of the tank. It may perceive any new fish as a competitor for its resources (space and food). The Emperor and Blueface are likely going to fight regardless of landscaping. They should not be kept together in cramped quarters. The Sohal Tang travels more than 20 miles each day in the wild. The 150 is really too cramped for this fish. The Clown and Sohal Tangs both should be in an aquarium that is at least 8 feet long (300+). So, to be more blunt, I don't see where a landscaping change will improve any fish relations nor reduce any fish stress.

Re: order of fish?
thanks for the info
Lee, if the sohal tang is going to swim 20 miles a day, getting a extra 2 to 4 feet in length or in width. Would that really make him/her less stressful? Or is it that we can feel that we gave him/her the best we can handle? |
