dried seaweed

I went to the local Thai store hoping to pick up some algae sheets and all I could fine were sheets of dried seaweed. Any thoughts on this as a food source for Herbivore snails in quarantine? Have some red algae coming in by mail in a day or so. Is it as important to keep the snails in quarantine when the tank is almost finished cycling and of course no fish to come for several months?

Re: dried seaweed

The snails love the dried seaweed. I'm pretty sure I should have washed it first though. Clouded up my QT tank. Found some threads on it later as well. Looks like they will be fine for the 6 week QT. Any thoughts on what to look for on snails health wise? I assume if they are moving and eating thats a good thing lol. Have read what I could find so far but not getting much on what to look for health wise. Life as a newbie.........so many questions......so little time.

Re: dried seaweed

i think as long as there moving and eating theres not alot more you can look for in snail health, and good on you for QT them as well.
not a lot of ppl bother only to have all kinds of trouble down the road.

Cheers james
