Update on Salt addition to DI water
I initially purchased Kent Sea Salt and each time I made up water for changes I struggled getting the pH to 8.3. Basically ended up with a carbonate storm each time. Talked to a tech person at Kent and he indicated the salt was buffered at 7.9 to 8.0. Changed to Instant Ocean and have had 0 issues. Tanks are stable at 8.2 and I'm sure easy to take to 8.3. I've just been amazed at the difference. Just thought I would share those observations as I really struggled for a while.
