One wet/dry or two? Sound familiar?

I know I keep coming up with strange questions -- but when you don't know -- you just don't know.

Anyway, since I have a 125g with 2 overflows -- would it make any sense to have 2 separate wet/dry systems or simply join the 2 overflows into one larger wet/dry setup?

My initial thought is that I'm only doubling my maintenance work having 2 separate setups -- and not really getting any real benefit.

Thanks for your comments.

The overflows are connected to a single, properly sized wet/dry if that is the kind of filter you want to set up. A properly sized one will handle even the highest of bio-loads that a FOWLR marine system would impose upon it.

You mentioned having Michael Paletta's book. It's a good one. You might just follow along with his recommendations for your first, getting-back-to-the-hobby aquarium, rather than trying to invent new designs at this stage.

When you have a specific question, search the forums here for a keyword and see what others have commented upon. You'll find in general that many of the common marine system options have been discussed, and there may be a discussion already debated on a particular design.

Your are certainly doing the correct thing first. . .Planning.

Yes, what is this for? FOWLR or Reef? If reef, I would not recommend the use of a wet/dry, or at least not the use of bio-balls.
