    72 gallon stocking

I've read all the FOWLR setting up stuff and currently have the 72 gallon cycling with LR. I plan to add some cleaner shrimp in 6-8 months and then start very slowly adding some fish.
I'd like to get some ideas on what to stofk now so I have some time to think.
So far I've decided on......... a pair of clowns.
I'm thinking of (obviously) adding to this fairly short list.
Not exactly sure what yet though.
I've done some research and am thinking of
    -basslet(s)
    -dartfish(es)
    -goby(ies)
    -damselfish(too aggresive?)
    - and maybe a tang of some sort, yellow is cool but undecided.

This isn't my completed stocking list. I will probably do a combination of this but am not limited to only this list. I really appriciate suggestions. I'm looking for fish that are fairly colorful, won't bother cleaner shrimp, and are relatively easy to take care of and will be good in a 72 gallon FOWLR tank.
    Thanks

    Re: 72 gallon stocking

    Howdy!

I'm sure others will have better info for you, but currently in my 46 bow, I have two Blue Velvet Damsels that I started with in the tank and then I added a True Percula Clown afterwards.

Neither of the damsels bother the clown. Once in a while the bigger of the damsels will chase after the smaller of them, but that's about it. I know that damsels generally are territorial and such, but I guess I've been lucky thus far.

Actually, sometimes it looks as though the bigger damsel protects or "watches over" the clown. Because sometimes the clown will stay in the little cave/rock I have, but when the big damsel comes by, he'll follow him anywhere and once they come back to the area, he'll go hang out near/in the cave/rock again.

Anyway...don't know if this helps you, but I hope it does.

That helps a little. I've been doing some research and I think I've decided on stock.

One more question though. There are lots of kinds of live rock. Which type is the best?

    Re: 72 gallon stocking

Remember that Anemonefishes are Damselfishes. That is one reason why Anemonefishes have that 'Damselish' attitude sometimes.

The aquarium is too short for any Tang, in my opinion. The Yellow Tang may become aggressive over time, especially when space stressed.

Otherwise the choice of fishes is very personal. Just don't overstock, and stock only the fish suitable for that size of display. You can get more info on stocking limits AND live rock information at these two posts:

    What is Live Rock, Anyway?

    Good luck!
