Tank Raised Clown Fish
I thought I would take a moment and share my experience. 3 Weeks ago I purchased a pair of Ocellaris clown fish from Blue Zoo aquatics. Was very pleased with their shipping etc. The pair are so nice in color and have been so easy to feed and get into the system. I know its still early but so far its been without problems. Interesting thing to me is that apparently they have only known flake food. They will hardly touch the frozen.........can't get the pieces small enough and it goes by them to the bottom. I bought a tool online that is a rectangle attached to an arm and suction cup that holds the flake food from going all over the tank. I rub the flakes between my fingers into the rectangle area so I get real small pieces. The fish go nuts at feeding time and eat all the small pieces. If its a little bigger they take it in and spit it out. The female (or female to be.......not sure how quick that occurs) has been working the male over qutie a bit.......especially if he comes to the center of tank and only after the lights are on for a while. At night they are together and happy. He tends to square off with her a bit more and she is not kicking his butt quite so much now.
On a different note.......at this point I have decided to only put aquacultered fish into my tank. I know that will limit me but the upsides are huge in my opinion. Also I am finding the number of aquacultered fish available is growing quickly and I really want to support that. A thought for reefland and others might be to create a category dedicated to aquacultered stock ......not only fish but corals and invertebrates as well. I really think the future of the hobby has to move to this end anyway but......well.......just a thought.
Bottom line is after so many months of patiently waiting I now have the joy of two healthy and happy fish, not to mention all the invert life running around that keeps me glued to the tank for hours on end.
