need help urgent!!
Hello!!
I have a 150 gl tank with some fish. Everthing in the tank (water, fish, live rock) , i had to go and collect it from sea difficultly. There is no LFS selling marine equipments or live stock. Fish has been in there only for 2 weeks now. This morning i see some white dots on some fishes. So i am really worry. If something wrong with them i can't buy back. Ph, 8.3. Sg, 1.018. nitrite 0. nitrate 80ppm. temp 27'C. Please give me some suggestion. I don't want to loose the fishes. I tried to finish this tank for 7 months. Thanks in advence!! Kyaw |

Re: need help urgent!!
From the brief description, I'd say there may be several things wrong, not to mention the likelihood of your fish having Marine Ich. It would be best to return them to the sea and begin again using the recommendations given below.
You need to do a lot of reading. I am not sure who is providing you with guidance on how to start a marine aquarium, but what you've described is not the best process. Here are some things to read: Setting Up a FOWLR Aquarium A Fish Quarantine Process The Mature Aquarium Marine Ich - Myths and Facts We have many other recommendations and posts and articles here on Reefland. This is a post that has links in it that you should want to read: Table/Contents - Link List

Kyaw,
I am so sorry to hear about the devastation in your area. I've been hearing it on the news and it sounds terrible. I hope you know that we are thinking of you and hope that you and your people can recover soon from this awful disaster. Cynthia |

Re: need help urgent!!
Kyaw,
I'm so sorry to hear of your misfortune. As you probably already know, the United States and many other countries around the world are trying to get aid into your country. According to the Australian media, power is coming back on in many parts of Rangoon already. According to news reports, the loss of life in your country has been horrendous. That is so sad. You mentioned having a generator but no fuel to run it. If it's a gasoline-powered generator, you need to stock up on gasoline (using 5-gallon storage containers) a couple of days in advance if the weather bulletins predict that a tropical storm is headed your way. You can always use the gas in your vehicles later if you don't need it for the generator. Buy several of those 5-gallon storage containers. We have ten of them now. And fill up the gas tank in your car or truck. Following a tropical storm, you won't be able to buy gas for perhaps two or three days and then, once they start to open the gas stations using generators for power, there will be long lines of cars waiting to buy gas and it can take hours waiting on line. And then they may ration the amount of gas you can buy at one time. Whenever you believe that a tropical storm might hit your area, stock up on bottled water, candles, flashlight batteries, basic food items (non-perishable), and gasoline in advance. It's also a good idea to have enough cash on hand, too, because you may not have access to your bank account for several days or longer because the ATM machines may not work, or the electronic network may have their hub located in a building that was destroyed by the storm. We have a generator but we didn't have enough gas saved up in advance (only about 20 gallons), so I had to drive 50 miles away to the nearest gas station that was open and wait in line for two hours to buy gas. And many of the ATM machines didn't work for three or four weeks. At my house we were very lucky and our power was restored after only four days. Many people near me didn't have their power restored for four weeks and people 50 miles away in New Orleans didn't have power restored to some parts of the city for several months. At my age, I have been through more than a dozen major hurricanes, so I know what it feels like. Many of my relatives have lost their homes in hurricanes and I have helped clean out homes that were flooded, so I know what that smells like. That was back in 1965 following Hurricane Betsy when I was much younger. I didn't help clean out any homes after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Good luck!

Re: need help urgent!!
Thanks to everybody!!!
Storms never come to our city in 100 years. So we don't have experiances of storm. And there is no warning of storm before it hit .Media is not free in our country. So nobody can get true story what is happening here. Emails are also checked before send it to destinations, most of the website are blocked, like CNN. Anyway, i am still try to save my fishes!!! I hope i can save them. If i can't save this time, i'll try to get another group of fishes again. Thanks to leebca, easy to find what i need to read. Thanks again!! Kyaw |

Quote:
Is it just CNN that is blocked or are all foreign news websites blocked? Can you use search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, or are they also blocked? Current weather conditions for Rangoon. Information from NASA on Cyclone Nargis. NASA satellite images of flooding in Burma. Blog with photos of Nargis damage. (It's in Italian.) More Cyclone Nargis damage photos by visitor to Burma. P.S. -- I wonder if this link is blocked? I would like for you to tell me if that link is blocked. It's the CIA's fact page on your country.
