Lion fish and sea star compatibility???

I'm wondering whether lionfish and sea stars are compatible?

I am receiving a 2 yo lionfish in a weeks time. I am perfectly aware of the hazards associated with these animals so I thought to decrease the chance of getting stung (although the chances are already low) I could have a sea star do most of the cleaning for me.

Any ideas???

thanks

WELCOME TO REEFLAND!

That is a very good question. I am unclear about whether you are asking about something like 'Brittle Stars' or 'Star Fish.'

If you ware speaking about Brittle Stars, then I don't know the answer to that one. I have never kept those kinds of life forms together. The Lionfishes in general do eat crustaceans, but I don't know if they would take on a Brittle Star.

With regards to a Star Fish, I have kept Lionfishes together with the Chocolate Chip Star Fish without a problem. The Lionfish was smaller than the Star, however.

Re: Lion fish and sea star compatibility???

well considering that the lionfish is fully grown and around 30cm in length, im thinking of getting a star fish. something such as a blue sea star rather than a bittle sea star. I've kept blue sea stars before in a reef aquarium, but not with a lionfish.

Re: Lion fish and sea star compatibility???

I had serpent sea star in tank with mombassa lionfish, no problems, even no interest.
