Re: help me

Question about maintaining the alk and ca. Right now the alk 9 dkh, mag about 1200 ppm are about where they should be, ca need to go up.
So should I be dosing a little of alk and ca a day. And every other day dose more ca.
I’m only using DT PURE 1,2,3. The directions say daily to maintain.

Re: help me

It depends upon what kinds of marine life you have in your system. I think what would be wise is to measure and see IF anything needs to be added. Once you get a handle when an addition is necessary, then you determine how much is enough to maintain the numbers.

Ideally, when the numbers are in harmony, the addition of a balanced replenisher should be good enough to maintain both the alkalinity and the calcium. If the additive is not balanced, then each will have to be replenished on its own. Like the alkalinity, you learn how much calcium is taken up by the marine life and that is how much to add in order to keep it steady.

For now, treat each separately. Add more calcium than what it would take just to replenish it, and monitor the alkalinity and magnesium to see how much is 'used up' by your particular system. Replenish the alkalinity and magnesium, holding them steady as you can, where they should be. Small frequent additions would be ideal to prevent fluctuations, but controlling it will depend upon how attentive you are and how often you want to make additions. You might want to check around for a replenisher that is balanced with both alkalinity and calcium to make the additions easier. Then once a month or so, you may have to tweak it. It depends upon the kinds and quantities of marine life you keep.

Re: help me

Sounds good I'll still test daily. Up date once a week or so.
Thanks for all your help Lee.
