Hello all. Well I have been looking to add one last fish to my display and want it to be a great one. I toyed with getting a Interruptus angel but thanks to fellow RC members I decided against it because of temperature needs among otherthings. I then set my sights on a Wrought Iron Butterfly, but the temperature issue came up again. So then onto a Conspiculatus. One of my all time dream fish, but I think my big 8" Black Tang is going kill the Conspic if I add him. So then I always wanted a male or pair of crosshatches. Problem is you can only get 7+" male crosshatches for the most part. I wanted something in the 5" range. So after scouring sources for fish I came across this beauty and I think I found my fish. It is a Crosshatch hybrid. Not sure what it's crossed with but it's either crossed with a sargassum or blue throat. What do you guys think? The fish is the right size and it is absolutely beautiful. What do you guys think of this fish? Thanks, Tim

It's a beautiful fish.

My only concern is something you wrote -- It's the right size. You do know this fish will and can grow up to 12" in captivity. Your current display tank should accommodate this final size. That is, I would suspect your display tank to be no less than 100 gallons and that this fish may be the only one in that sized display when it gets over 10".

I have a 180 and a 300. Thanks for responding. Now that I have you. What are your thoughts of the temperature requirements of Interruptus angels? I am considering getting one but am hesitant because I keep my tank at 76F and I feel this may be too warm for them. What do you think? Thanks Lee. Regards, Tim

Actually it looks exactly like a Titan Trigger. They are indeed glorious to look at.

The only problems with triggers are...
1. They will outgrow a tank within a year
2. Their growth doesn't slow down until they reach about 6inches.
3. They might eat tank mates even after they've housed with them for a while.
4. They need a lot of swimming space.


Now if I'm mistaking the ID and it's a Queen trigger, then the 300gal. will get you by for a while, but the minimum is 500gal. on a Queen, Clown and Niger. Yet again, if this is the Undulated Trigger, it must be kept alone. No questions about it. However I do believe the image you've posted is that of a Titan because if it was an Undulated, there wouldn't be tank mates in there with it.

I've always been fascinated by triggers, so they are the one fish I've researched the heck out of. One day I'll have my 500+gal just for a clown

Don't think it is a titan and speaking with many experienced fish keepers they think crosshatch, blue chin or a crosshatch color morph. I didn't get the fish and got a male crosshatch instead. Tim
