Re: 55g aggressive tank

The tank inhabitants you describe would be more of a predatory tank than an aggressive tank. The Lionfish is predatory, but not very aggressive. It will get along with most other fishes in the predatory group providing it has time to stalk and eat its food. Some other in the predatory group will not allow the Lionfish to stalk and eat its prey.

A 55g standard aquarium is very tall. Fish don't swim up and down, but horizontally. The best aquariums for marine fishes have a large foot print and are not tall. Although a Dwarf Lionfish would be fine in this aquarium, most Puffers could only 'visit' here for a couple of years and then need to move on to larger and longer aquariums.

There are some Puffers that remain relatively small, the so-called 'dwarf' Puffers that might be considered. Still, the size and shape of this tank will limit the bioload to maybe just one or two such predatory fishes.

I don't recommend specific fishes since I think that their choice is very personal. You may wait for others to express their opinions on your choice of fishes or search the Internet for types of such fishes. Go to sites that sell marine fishes online and check out online fish databases.
