Emergency Help!!

I just had my nanotank get a fan slammed into leaving a hole and crack all the way down the tank. (It was 10 gal) I got a new tank from walmart and 10gal of water, and now I need instructions on what to do with my rock and my sand and my snails and my pepperment shrimp.

Help ASAP!!

Re: Emergency Help!!

Keep the rock and sand wet with saltwater. The snails and shrimp can temporarily be placed in any very clean glass container with some aeration (very little). Hopefully there is enough of the old water to do this using that water. If you have to use new water, then try to go through a slow acclimation process with the invertebrates to their temporary home.

Setup the new tank. Put in the sand, rock and then fill with new water. Start the system up and check for problems. Check all water parameters and let them stabilize. Then the new home is ready for the marine life.

The snails and shrimp will need to be acclimated to the new tank IF the water they are in is the old water. Acclimating invertebrates should be done very slowly, over many hours. A drip acclimation procedure is good for these marine lifeforms.
