    LR Transport

What would be the best procedure for transporting LR from an established tank (2 year) to my established tank (11 months)

    Re: LR Transport

I'm unsure about the challenge with this. The following assumes both tanks are free of marine fish diseases. If you mean the few feet it might be, then take the wet rock out of the old system and put it into the new system.

If it's long distance, put the live rock in one or more buckets, under its old water and then, when near the new tank, take it out wet and put it in the new system.

You just don't want the rock to dry out or lose it being wet.

If the live rock has some attached sponges you might want to keep and both tanks are free of marine fish diseases (and the old tank doesn't have any small inhabitants of the LR you don't want in the new tank), then put the rock into a sunken plastic bag while under water in the old tank, and then submerge the bag under water in the new tank so that the rock doesn't come into contact with air, at all.
