    Fish Food Alternatives

Just wanted to see what other kinds of food you guys/girls are feeding your fishes/inverts. I'm thinking things like spinich, parsley, kale, earthworms, frozen shrimp, along those lines... Also what methods do you use to prepare the foods (boiling, thawing....)?

Hey STeve, check out this article by Lee. It's real informative and really helped me start to see a difference in my fish as far as color and behavior.

It varies. Don't have the stuff in front of me but roughly... bottled plankton and zooplankton, frozen mysis and cyclopeeze, couple different pellets, flakes, algae waffers, and garlic.

Anybody feeding something besides petstore bought goods? Like shrimp from the grocery store or worms/insects from around the house?

    Re: Fish Food Alternatives

Land products are usually not good for marine fish. Like trying to get rabbits to eat hamburger -- marine fishes don't come onto land to eat. Fish are on a strict seafood diet.

Feeding marine fish some land products (that contain wheat products) are not digestible. So those foods just go into the tank, through the fish, and pollute the water. Other foods, like earth worms, contain indigestible fats and have bacteria that are foreign to seafoods.
