As you may already know but I will repeat this for the sake of this post, I have a 33g fowlr/20g sump tank that currently has 10 nassarius snails, 6 astrea snails, and one lawnmower blenny. I have had the blenny for about 5 weeks and he is doing well and eating well. I did have an ammonia spike of about .25 a few days ago probably due to uneaten food getting sucked into the sump, but I did a couple of water changes and I changed how I've been feeding him (so uneaten food doesn't go to waste so easily) and the ammonia level has stayed at 0 for four days now ever since I did the water changes etc. I am monitoring ammonia daily to make sure the issue has been resolved. The tank as a whole has been set up for 8 months but with just snails for most of that time. Nitrates are also undetectable. I added some sponges to the sump to filter particulates since I could see a lot of stuff in the water itself, and I am rinsing them out daily, and getting a lot of dark crud out of the water this way.
So I need to decide what my next step is in stocking this tank. I was thinking of a final stocking of either one or two ocellaris clownfish, a fairy wrasse, and a shrimp of some kind (besides what I already have). Does this sound appropriate? What should my next addition be to the tank? It will be at least 10 days from now before I will be adding any more stock to the tank, to give enough time to make sure parameters are stable etc.
