    Overstocking or just right?

I'm setting up a small 25 gallon FOWLR and have these 2 options as the fish I want to add....

1st option: 3 chromis, 1 false percula clownfish, a cleaner shrimp and an algae blenny.

2nd option: 1 chromi, 1 flame angelfish, 1 false percula clownfish, a cleaner shrimp and an algae blenny.

Considering that it's a FOWLR, am I overstocking in any of the options, or are these options both ok?(If it is too much, what is the right tank size for these 2 options?)

Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

IMO, both options would be overstocking. In option 1, the 3 Chromis are the killer. In option 2, it's the Flame Angelfish.

IMO, you would be fine with 2 or 3 small fish, that's it. Dwarf Angelfish get too large for this sized tank.

As for the correct tank size for these 2 options, I'd say a 40 gallon would be about right.

    Good stuff.

How about if I took 1 chromi out of option 1, which would give me...

2 chromis, 1 false percula clownfish, a cleaner shrimp and an algae blenny.

Would this be acceptable? If so, is ok to have an even amount of chromis?(i've heard they should be added in odd numbers)

Can a single Chromi thrive if I added it with 1 false percula clownfish, a cleaner shrimp and an algae blenny?

The 25 gallon tank is not a very good tank for marine fishes. It is better suited for a reef tank with maybe only one fish in it (if any).

Anyway, what is suitable from your list is:
    1 False Percula, or
    2 or 3 Chromis, or
    1 Lawnmover Blenny

No combinations of the above fits. You can put in one shrimp with any of the above choices.

    Re: Overstocking or just right?

Excellent help guys. I went out and got a 50 gallon tank.

I will stock the FOWLR with 1 chromi, 1 false percula clownfish, a cleaner shrimp and an algae blenny.

The only thing i'm not sure of is in which order to add these fish to my tank and why in that order?

    Thanks again guys.

My thought would be - after the tank cycles! = no nitrates tested the Blenny = because he will help with the algae (also recommend a phosphate reactor or at least a pad for same reason), the clown & cleaner same time.

Don't get just one ocellaris clownfish, get two captive-bred juveniles so that you will eventually have a mated pair.

Absolutey go for 2 clownfish. I would add the chromis, the blenny and then the clowns.

I wouldn't add the Blenny until you have some natural algae growth for it to eat.

Everything else, shouldn't matter, they'll get along just fine. I agree with the recommendation to get 2 Clownfish, either Occellaris or true Perculas.

I don't mind having 2 clownfish, what are the reasons for 2 instead of 1 though?

So that you can observe their behavior both before they become a mated pair and after. Clownfish behavior is very interesting and very easy to observe. Compared to most other fish, they are fairly easy to pair.
