Are there any good, cheap skimmers for a 125g

I have my tank running with sand (not live ) and live rock. Set up two weeks ago. I want to have some mushrooms, and just a few hardy corals what should I look at spending on a skimmer. I see there are some skimmers around $100.00 but maybe those are just rip-offs. I am not sure any suggestions would be great. Also I want to get an anonome with some clown fish.

I would go with the ASM mini G skimmer. I use it for my 125g and it works great. Its a decent price for a good skimmer in its category.

Look at the AquaC skimmers, all their products are excellent, Just a quick note, Keep in mind "you get what you pay for", I have learned this lesson several times, and now I don't really go bargain shopping anymore. You might buy cheap and then have to replace it shortly down the road. Buy quality the first time out, you'll be glad you did. As far as the corals and such goes, don't rush things, if your tank has only been up for a couple of weeks, you are not even cycled yet, and are not ready to be adding any life forms, I would recommend going the the reef tank forums and start reading the different threads and feel free to jump in and ask questions. Good Luck and Happy Reefing

    Tanks,

There is no standard for sizing skimmers. One manufacturer can list the same skimmer good for a 100 gallon aquarium, and another would say it is only good for a 50 gallon tank.

In this post there is a short discussion on skimmers and how to buy the correct one. You go by flow rate NOT advertised claims: What is Water Quality.
