Well water with water softener

Hey all,
Setting up FOWLR, have well water on a softener, can I use that water or should I invest in an RO\DI unit?

Hi,
well water is high in mineral content & a water softner will remove some and then add salt. RO\DI will give you water w "0" TDS and the salt mix will readily bond w/ this H2O.

i also have well water with softening system.. i use in my aquarium since most minerals are taken out and it has no chlorination. when i added my instant ocean salt mix to it it take a few days for the water to dissolve it all along with the filter running since there are some minerals and some salt left in the water that form a percipitate with the added salt... just takes a bit longer to dissolve... but i use and seems to be working fine, and is crystal clear now!... but if your nervous or concerned there are no worries with DI/RO water!
