    see shells in aquarium

We recently got back from Sanibel Island and returnd with some amazing shells we got from the ocean. What process do I need to go through to make sure they are aquarium safe? Usually, even for diplay purposes, I boil them and than soak them for 15 minutes in a 50/50 mix of water/bleach. Obviously, I'd need to clean them quite thoroughly after the bleah bath before putting them in the aquarium, but do I need to do anything else? Thanks.

    [EDIT] YES...I know I mis-spelled SEA

    WELCOME TO REEFLAND!

The cleaning you've done seems good enough for flat shells and shells where there is no deep cavity.

Spiral shells and 'deep' shells may still contain animal parts. After cleaning like you've done, sink the shells in some saltwater, making sure to the best of your ability, there is no air trapped inside. Let them soak in the water a few days. If the water turns cloudy, one or more of the shells still have some left over organic matter left in them. If there water remains clear, they should be okay to use.
