Combine 180 Gal & 75 Gal Via Plumbing

I want to plumb the 180 and 75 together. I would like to supply the 75 from a fitting towards the bottom of the 180. the 75 is lower than the 180. Both on LFS stands. My problem is how to stop the 75 from emptying up to the 180 after a power failure. An air inlet will break the siphon down to the 75 but how to prime the line??? Neither tank is drilled. There currently is a 20 gal fuge under the 180.

    Any Thoughts..

There are valves, solenoid switches wired to valves, etc. that reduce the likelihood of the problem you face. It is still better in this hobby to not setup the arrangement like that, however. The overflow or stand pipe is the best setup to totally not have to worry about an accident.

There are some good books out there on setups and plumbing designs: Marine Aquarium Books & Reading There is also a good DIY Forum here who's participants will have ideas, too.
