Hi there,
I have a nano tank with two clown fish, they have seemed to be doing fine although I have only had them a few months. THey seem happy enough fins up and they are eating well. My only concern is that one of them, the larger of the two has lost the black from her top fin, it doesn't appear torn or ragged. Should this be a cause for concern, is that how fin rot starts?
Hopefully someone can advice me as to whether this is fine or whether i need to treat this.
Many thanks
Susie

This post looks familiar. I've seen it somewhere before.
Anyway, color and marking loss is either temporary (like changes for night camouflage) or more permanent from stressors which include space stress, water quality, lack of proper nutrition, etc.
You don't mention the size of the nano tank, but if it's smaller than 29 gallons the fish are under a space stress for sure. You didn't provide water quality test results so I don't know about that. So without more info, not much more I can say.
If you'll list the following in detail I may spot something:
foods being fed
quantity of food being fed
how often are the fish fed
all water (test kit) conditions and
tank size.
