    Calcium Reactor for FOWLR

    Is there any direct benefit for me to add a calcium reactor to my fish only tank? Of course the LFS is telling all the great indirect benefits such as coraline promotion.
    What happens in a calcium reactor anyway?

    First answer: No.

    Second answer: It produces dissolved calcium

    Third consideration: Find a new person to get advice from.

    What you should think of doing is monitoring the water quality for those things that coralline algae removes, like alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium. Keep these in balance and all will be fine. However, the amounts of these consumed by the algae, snails, invertebrates, etc. is small and certainly not worth additional equipment.
