First answer: No.
Second answer: It produces dissolved calcium
Third consideration: Find a new person to get advice from.
What you should think of doing is monitoring the water quality for those things that coralline algae removes, like alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium. Keep these in balance and all will be fine. However, the amounts of these consumed by the algae, snails, invertebrates, etc. is small and certainly not worth additional equipment.
