Where did those numbers come from?

Ok so i just bought a "Salt Water Master test Kit" from the petsmart near my house. From what i see its all about putting the water into a tube and adding drops to the tube. No real numbers there. Where is everyone getting these accurate numbers for pH, Nitrite, and Nitrate?

Not all test kits are created equal. And some people are probably guess-timating as well, when their test kits do not have a high degree of precision in the readings.

But just to make sure, you did find the chart that has the various shades of colors with numeric values next to them, right? If you're missing that, then the colors won't mean anything to you!
