have i killed my live rock ?

hi all
im new to marine keeping had my tank 460ltr tank for 10 months now
the problem is i had case of ich?
tryed to treat it with esha oodinex wide range marine treatment made things better but didnt cure so i tryed it again still the same thing but i lost my porkypine puffer,fox face and regal tang im getting desparate now.
so i removed all the live rock and treated the tank with cuprazin
the rock was stored in a bucket with a power head and heater but no light the fish got better so i skimmmed off the copper and used polly pads then returned the live rock it didnt look as live as it did before and then it went white .
its getting some colour now red purple and some green but no critters seem to be living in it.
will i ever be able to revive it fully or can i re seed it some how.
all of this could have been avoided but i chose the wrong lfs to start with
any advice on how to sort this rock out or have i killed it

I have never used oodinex, so i can't offer any advice on that.

You can not SKIM copper out of your system. The pads should work, but it will not remove it from your substrate. Have you tested your water for copper. If not, then do so.

Assuming the oodinex is truly "invert" safe, then I would guess that your rock is still "alive'.....but you most likely lost some life one way or the other..either via the chemicals, or the storage of the rock in the barrels. Since it sounds like your are not keeping a "Reef" Tank, your rock is probably going to be fine for a fish only system.

Sound like your coralline is starting to make a come back...

Also to be safe, run some carbon through your system to remove any traces of the oodinex.

Also, set up a quarantine tank. Lots of good dope here on that subject.

There was residual copper in the main tank that killed the invertebrates in and on the live rock. To answer your question -- Yes. The live rock is no longer true live rock. It isn't base rock, but somewhere in between. It will not be possible to make it 'live' again. You should read this post: What is Live Rock, Anyway?

The problem with adding medicine to the main display tank is that sometimes the meds don't leave the tank, even if you try to remove it. For instance, using a copper based medicine. The copper will stay in the tank, attached to glass, plastic, substrate and anything it can with a carbonate base to it. Then it releases slowly.

Your copper test kit may show 'none detected' but there is enough copper present to kill invertebrates and the micro-to-macro life on the live rock.
