    Question compatable puffers

    hi all
ill try and make this short.i had a porkypine and a dog face living together
they used to sleep, swim, eat and even seemed to play with each other.the porky was in the tank first, unfortunatly i lost my norman (the porky)to ich i think.and treated the tank with cuprazine (copper) all other fish got better but the dog face looked lost with out his buddy.i orderd him a new mate, this new porky was a bit skinney at first but not for long what a pig,
after about a week he became possesive of all the food and every time he went near the dog face the dog face would show him his belly and if he carried on coming strike.the porky was bullying all the fish in the tank this was a very differant fish to the one prior.i have done lots of reading on puffers and the combination should work has any body else tryed this combination.i returned the porky to my lfs which exchanged him no problem even thoe he was special orderd they said that later maybe i should try again but with a smaller one . what do you think should i try again or should i give up
    thanks all sham

    Re: compatable puffers

There are many layers to fish getting along with other fish. Not only is it a species thing, but it includes personalities between fishes. There's no guarantee for success or failure, but there are generalities.

With the presence of a disease, that is not so good. You need to at least rid the system of disease so that doesn't contribute to the stressors at work.

Other than that, the putting together of fishes is pretty much catch-as-catch can.

    Re: compatable puffers

As leebca said there are many layers. The only other advice I have is maybe try moving the live rock around,it will somewhat make the fish choose new teritory. I have also found that introducing more then one fish at a time helps (me anyway)
