Quarantine tank best practices...

I search for "quarantine" using the forum search feature, but only come up with 6 results, none of which seem to fit the bill.

The questions I have:

Is there a dedicated sticky with this info, in detail?

Any other recommended links, to good QT advice?

Are people here running quarantine tanks 24/7? So they are ready when needed? Or do they only set one up as the need arises?

Most descriptions of quarantine tanks sound like ammonia factories to me. How do you maintain good water quality without stressing fish in the QT? I imagine countless hobbyists with good intentions have only accelerated fish death through poorly executed QT's.

Many sources describe a very small QT as adequate. But if one of your fish becomes sick, it seems that you often need to QT/treat them all. So 5, 10, 15 gallon QT's sound like a very bad idea to me.

What sort of lighting is recommended? I don't want to spend too much, but also don't want to heat up the water with cheap lighting. Is lighting even required?

What sort of equipment (and approximate total cost) do members here have for their QT's? And are they eye sores, or do you treat them like mini display tanks?

Do you know how to find stickies? You go to the Forum then you pull up the list of threads. The stickies are at the top with the word "sticky" in the upper left hand corner of each thread that is a sticky. This link takes you to this Forum's list: Saltwater (Fish-Only) Aquariums

I wonder if the forum search feature is broken, or if I'm misusing it.

The more I think about having a QT setup, the more I realize it will help reduce stress for both my fish, and me !
