Two percula clowns and two green chromis too much fish?

    Hey guys,

I have a 14g biocube that has been cycled and ready for some fish... I bought one percula clown a few days ago and he is doing great so far, and I want to add more. Would another clown and two green chromis be too crowded? If so, what about one more clown and only one chromis? or vice versa forget the other clown and put two chromis in? Should I put the next 2-3 fish in slowly? BTW there is 9lbs of live rock in the tank as well as live sand. Other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jake

In very general terms, that aquarium is okay for a small reef display and not good for keeping fish. About one fish that, when fully grown is less than 2" limits what you can put into that. Anything beyond that one fish is too much for that aquarium. If you really want to keep fish, start thinking in terms of aquariums of 40 or more gallons.

Please read through this post: Fish Stocking Limit - for FO and FOWLR

    Good luck!

Thanks for the response. The biocube is a small tank that I just want to keep in "my room" the wife lets me keep for playing video games and playing the guitar or piano. I am in the process of setting up a 100 gal sea clear tank, my buddy sold me for $200, in the basement. I already bought the CaribSea aragonite, hopefully picking up some LR next week and I can start the cycle process. Is the filter descent on these sys II tanks?

In this case, add nothing to your current tank. I hope you'll be following this guide: Setting Up a FOWLR Aquarium

Can't help you with the pump. But your total circulation needs to be no less than 8X the total volume of the system per hour, if you're setting up a FOWLR system. More than that for a reef system. You'll need to do the math. Get the pump volume per hour (deducting head pressure and other losses from the flow) and add to that other inside circulating pumps to get the total circulation. Compare this number to the total volume of water in the system. Circulation needs to be no less than 8X of that total volume/hour.

This post will help in this area and also in determining how to size a skimmer:
