Hello I have a 29G Aquarium with an Eclipse 3 hood, koralia power head, 25lbs of LR, 1 Diamond Goby, 2 Green Chromis, and 1 clown.

What types of aquatic plants are recommended for marine aquariums?

There are several to choose from. You might want to scan the Internet. Some are illegal in CA and various other USA States, so you have to keep an eye out for that.

why would they be illegal ? endangered?

Some are illegal because they (unfairly) compete with native algae. Certain marine algae can run over and take over areas of ocean that contain other algae. Thus to preserve the local natural algae, those other stronger and more competitive algae are made illegal.
