Wrasse behavior can be a mystery. If you are absolutely sure there is no reason for the fish not to come out (i.e., another fish openly or subtly threatening it), then it is either shy or not acclimating properly to captive life. You don't mention how long you've had this fish, but if it is new or was the last addition, it may not be comfortable in that community.

I have a red coris wrasse approximately 6" long. He eats great and for the most part he exhibits normal behavior. My concern is the fish will dissapear under the sand and not come out for a few days, or at least he is not allowing himself to be seen. He is not normally shy which tells me he is staying buried and not just hiding. This is the longest stretch (4 days) that I have not seen him. He has gone 3 days before and does so at least 1.5 times a month. Does ayone else have a red coris wrasse that does the same thing? Could this be a sign of a water parameter out of whack.
), aragonite sand bottom, and overall good water quality. There are no signs of parasites or anything that would indicate poor health. I have a french angel about the same length, a percula clown about 3" and a fiji devil damsel, turbo snails, nassarius snails, and a variety of "reef safe" hermits.
