Cheap, small, airtight, easy to clean. All glass/plastic. Doubles as a shaker for flake and pellets, if you ever use those. Easy to find at most Home Goods type stores.

OXO digital timer.. pretty cheap, easy to use, accuracy to the second. Great for doing water tests and setting reminders:

Keep fish in your display tank, or make a cheap cover for your quarantine tank with egg crate.
NOTE: This is not totally effective for smaller fish.
Lets light through, and allows maximum oxygen exchange.
Also useful as a divider in sumps, or as a shelf to sit filter media on.
Fairly cheap, and easy to cut.
