    RO Buffers?

Hey guys still fairly new to all this. I need to get away from tap water for top offs. I have a five gallon auto top off that I'm going to start filling with RO Water. What do you guys suggest I use as a buffering compound? I went to my LFS and they sold me
B-Ionic it seems to me to be a little over the top for what I want to do. I just want something I can measure 1 part mix and go. Any thoughts.

    Re: RO Buffers?

Not knowing more about the size and kind of system you have going, it's hard to recommend the best thing to do.

If your system is relatively large, forget about buying the premade products. You'll save a lot of money AND make better adjustments on your own with products you can buy. If you're lazy, as you seem to imply, you'll find the premades will do a job until they skew the ingredients in your tank at which time you'll lose control (and then buy a lot more premade products to try and correct that problem).

Who recommended you buffer the RO water? Why did they say to do this? If you haven't guessed, this should not be necessary. Double resin bed DI water is better than RO water. RO water alone isn't the optimum to use for FOWLR systems. If you haven't, please read through this post: WATER - Source and NSW
