True or False? (percs, that is)

Is it true that A. percula (true percs) are more aggressive than A. ocellaris (false percs). I've heard this before and was wondering if anyone has had first hand knowledge. I'm considering adding a pair and while I like to looks of the true percs, want the more social of the two for a community tank. Thanks. JWT

Honestly, it doesn't matter IME, we have had them both in the store (pairs of them I might add) and they were fine. Also, these fish were tank raised from ORA, FWIW, so I don't know if wild would be more aggresive...HTH

Ok, I have both. I have a small ocellaris upstairs in a tank all by himself and I have a pair of perculas downstairs. The ocellaris, named pyscho aka clownfish from hell will try to bite my finger off whenever I put my hand in the tank. On the other hand I hand feed my perculas every night. The difference is that the percs are tank bred/raised (mutants, they only have 1 stripe) and the ocellaris is a wild caught SOB. My wild caught ocellaris is more beautiful than any tank bred ocellaris(except maybe the black ones) but he is the meanest fish I have ever seen. Whichever you chose I would go with tank bred clowns, and try to find the mutants

I am holding out for the tank raised. I am partial to the coloration on the true percs but TR are not often available. My lfs recently had a shipment of wild caught ocellaris and they were the biggest, fattest things I had ever seen. They all (about 20) were sold within two days because people could'nt get over the size. I've also heard that TR have a better survival rate. Interestingly, our friendly neighborhood PETCO gets regular shipments of TR ocellaris and only charges 12.99 a piece. Tempting, but hey, it's PETCO! Thanks for the replies. As these would be the last two fish in the tank, Im not overly concerned with territory rights. JWT
