    Question black slime treatment......question!

I recently had a black slime outbreak in a small spot in my 55 gallon FO tank. I have been useing ALGAEFIX to try to get rid of it. "Question is", the directions say use every three days until the algae is under control; could i use it every two days instead of three without harming my fish? I always go by what the directions say but it doesnt seen to be very effective at this rate.
    Any comments and replies appreciated.

    Cool Re: black slime treatment......question!

Hi Willis ; When you use any type of red slime remover you should always follow the directions as close as you can because something bad could happen if you do not. It even is very important to follow any supplements measuring instuctions so you do not accidentally overdose. Thats why we test before we dose say copper in a hospital tank. Good Luck!!

you would probably benefit most from manual removal. Next time you do a water change, try to scrape and siphon out the slime.

Doing this might help make the "medicine" more effective.

Not sure 'bout dosing tho 'cuz i'm not a big fan of medicating my tank.

    Got a picture?

    good luck

Adding chemicals to the aquarium is much worse than just eliminating the cause of the problem, not only for the sake of the life forms in the aquarium, but for your own wallet. You see, you have to keep adding this chemical and paying out for it as long as you don't correct the problem.

You need to start reading posts regarding red slime growths and their elimination. I suggest you start by reading this thread: Red algae help please
