Yep, it certainly appears to be one of those. If you've got a reef there, you'll want to re-home this one I'm afraid. They'll eat all your snails and crabs, and who knows what other inverts you have. Check out it's teeth!

some fish have problems adapting to frozen or freezedried, try a piece of krill and live brine shrimp basicly if one fails try another food some can be picky eaters .and im a guy
Thx Jessie doll but u rather have a feminine name. But it's all right.
oh btw i heard pufferfish release toxins that might poison other fish? I hope it wont because i have 3 other small fishes. But this puffer seems small and has an eating problem. I don't know how long its survival would be.

Hi koopa. i'm a guy.
I pretty sure puffers can release toxins, but usually only when they are threatened. I don't specialize in anorexic puffer fish, but i'm sure if you keep trying different foods you'll find something. Just make sure it fits in the fish's mouth.
How long has this fish been in your tank?
JOE
hmm can posibly be a sign of internal parasites. from what i learned about puffers i can say that once they get used to eating they eat alot and are messy eaters
sugested foods are frozen krill, squid( for larger ones ) basicly alot of different foods that are frozen
pelets i always dont advise useing they break down in the watter and can cause amonia, nitrites ect im not saying they are a deifnet bad food choice but they certainly arent the best
. anyway so i want you to try a little garlic in with a piece of krill and some mysids see if that gets him goin otherwise im not sure what the issue is SEE what the LFS was feeding him
and puffers can release toxins but only when stressed i belive.

Something else to consider, some fish may take up to a week to get use to their new environment. That may just be the case. Try spot feeding it every day until it takes.

Hey Koopa! glad to see you are still around! hows your tank doing? as for the fish, if it was properly acclimated, it may just need some time to get use to its new home. maybe try a few small pieces of shrimp or scallop from a seafood store. i started making my own food when i had a new add that wouldnt eat. yep, it worked and ill never go back to frozen stuff unless i made it myself. it also prevents all the junk that normally gets into the tank from prepared foods. my fish are healthier and seem happier too!
Another tip we always used fresh whole clams open face on the bottom in our store for our finicky eaters. Also for puffers we used feeder ghost shrimp, and very small crayfish from your local bait shop. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

i was to understand feeding a freshwater food nomater what it was is bad for salt water fish because of thier fat content or something like that cant remeber exactly the clams are good . this puffer is a small type of puffer and its mouth is shaped diferently then the larger puffers who are known to relish the large meaty foods but sure give the clams a try .
Oh you have a sharp nose puffer. Forget the crayfish to big, But most of the little sharp nose love clams. The nice thing about clams is that you can leave them in the tank on the bottom and the meat will stay in the shell and they can pick at it all. Stay away from the large clams. Not sure whats in your area. The one we like the best is the Newzeland cockels, their a much smaller clam. What we've notice most carnivores have a hard time passing them up. Especially when they see other fish picking at them. Almost forgot if they don't finish the clam by the end of the day pull it out, don't leave in tank over night
Hi parrothead, my aquarium did great after I used non copper medication on new clownfish tht got whitespot and after 4 months they're doing great. Mandarin fish died a month ago but lasted a good while. I added a purple yellow wrasse and its doing great. N I recently added this puffer and it seems to only hv an algae diet so far 5 days from the liverock. Other than that the others r doing great and I'm keepin it at 3-4 fishes in my 20 gal tank n they r smaller sized fishes. I did add a shrimp but died in a day cuz I think it was sick to begin with
