You don't need anything else. You have what you need. You don't need a filter with a Salt Tank. Keep up on your water changes to keep the water in good shape and you'll be fine. No worries. Your tank is going to go through a cycle also, so I would advise against putting fish in there just yet.

You need more live rock... I would say 15-20 lbs for a 10 gallon tank. I would also invest in a protein skimmer. I would suggest something small. I just upgraded my skimmer on my 29 gallon tank. I have a used aquaticlife mini 115 protein skimmer. I have added the mod to it for air take too. It is about 5 months old...(just look for my post on this site when my CPR broke). You can have it for $30 if you are interested.

A skimmer in a 10 gallon tank??? No reason for it, the water changes every week will take care of any parameter issues he would run into.

I would venture a guess that most people do not keep up with weekly water changes. I would recommend it to anyone for that reason.

Its like this. If you change 3 gallons of your water per week, you do not need any other equipment. That bag of salt you buy is going to go a long way with you.

    Minimally, do you have

    - test kits to determine when your tank has cycled
    - extra salt on hand to mix for water changes and a bucket; hydrometer to test salinity
    - assuming that rock in the center is like 3lbs - and IMO, you should have about 20 lbs... you will need about 17 lbs more. Depending on where you live can be about $3-$8 a lb.

I am also going to assume you are not using RODI water and probably just tap. I have no idea what to put in the tap water other than Seachem Prime or Amquel Plus to detoxify chloramine/chlorine/heavy metals in tap water. This will reduce algae. If not, go to your local super market and stock up on a few 1g jugs of distilled water.

+1 - Water changes are your best friend in this hobby.

If you don't change your water frequently, then you'll have to go Chris's route with the skimmer.
