Hi, I'm new to the forum so here goes:
last friday I noticed my blue tang was strangly absent from the scenery, being the dominant fish in the tank. Only on saturday I found him wondering about in the back between the rocks with a gigantic swollen eye: the complete lid is grey and even the area where the eye meets the forehead seems larger than usual.
All waterparameters are correct. Only problem I'm having is a failing skimmer: I think the pump is seizing up. It keeps going into thermal safety lock indicating the coils are going. There is no obstruction for the impeller to turn. This is the second failing pump on this type so I've bought an entirely new skimmer yet to be installed.
Back to the issue: there's no nitrite, nitrate, phosfate, ammonia... The other fish are fine. The blue tang is not showing itch.
I've got a large amount of corals and catching is but impossible. What is the best way to go about this.
I'm hoping to get some good tips because he's my favourite and an absolute beauty. It would be a shame to loose him.
Fozzy.
