Question **Should I, Would you??**

I have a 50g FOWLR and stock this: Maroon Clown (gs), Royal Gramma, Damsel (orange tail), and Cherub Angel. Have cleaner shrimp and various crabs and snails.

Should I or can I add another fish? If so what small fish can I add into my system?

Gracias!

you're probably at your limit now, but if you have excellent filtration and are running a good skimmer, you could probably select one more small fish. A six-line wrasse would work. Very colorful and active but they need lots of rock work to dart in and out of. A firefish would also go well. If you want somthing really small but cute and colorful, lok at a neon goby. won't do much to your bioload and will act as a cleaner species. I've got one in my 56 and he is out most of the time. I'd check your nitrates before you put anything else in though. JWT

I wouldnt add any more mid-level water fish, a fish that hangs out on the bottom of around the live rock perhaps.

well i guess im WAY outvoted .i tend to be conservative with fish stocking levels.
the only reason i responded again was to say if you add another fish ,saltjunkie(rick) seems to have given you the best advice imo

I'd be cautious adding a hawkfish. Most wil prey on shrimps and other crustaceans.

Thumbs up

you only basically have 2 fish in there.
do occassional water changes 5-10% week, 10-20% bi weekly or 20-25% monthly, after adding fish monitor amm/nitrite for 1st month or so.
I stand by my advice and will refund your purchase if you have any losses due to the addition of the fish. i.e decrease in water quality, aggression or starvation; if you follow advice given and let me know what you plan on getting.

It's the "one more fish" syndrome. I've seen the questions, and have asked them. We are ALL guilty. The problem is we love the hobby so much that our common sense loses sight of providing a GOOD home for our pets. You've heard the story about the lady with 30+ cats in her house/or the guy with too many dogs (to be fair to both sexes). We are doing the same thing by over crowding our tanks..I've done it thinking that I was good enough to make it work...Well I didn't. The tank became unmanageable, the water quality poor and the pets died or were given away. If you really want "One more fish" Do some planning and start another tank. Maybe larger maybe smaller but above all provide a good home the fish that we love to watch...not flush. I'm not picking on karel. It's all of us!!!!

Hello all,

I wanted to drop a thought for all of those who have given their opinions and expertise. I can assure you that i don't have the "one more fish" syndrome. I definetely had that back in the fresh water days...you know the compulsive, impulsive, repulsive buying of fish. Deaths upon deaths, etc...

Well thus far I have taken my time with first of all establishing my tank being patient as it cycled...didn't add all the fish at once, but rather waiting a few weeks in between. So all that to say that ill be fine with 4 fish in the tank or with 5 fish...for aesthetic reasons i would like to add another fish but not at the expense of all that has hertofore been mentioned (ie. poor h2o conditions, overcrowding, etc.)

So again thanks for all your imput...i am still undecided as to what im to do
