water changes

I have a 125 gal. tank that will be salt aggressive only tank. Anybody have any good suggestions for changing the water in large quantities.

In my fresh water tank I could just use the hose thing that attaches to the sink to clean AND refill, but to refill with salt water sounds a lot more difficult.

Thanks.

I have the LFS deliver fresh salt water once a month, in 50 gallon shots. (I have a 150) Costs me about @ $24.00

Buy some 5 gallon buckets and designate them "saltwater only" Then mix batches of water a few days before you are going to do a water change. This will give you time to mix , adjust salinity and temp . Then you have your water ready to go when you need it.I prefer to do smaller changes , say 10-15 % every other or third week .

I use a 33 gal ruber maid gatbage can to mix my salt water for watetr cahnges over 15 gallons. On my 125 im getting ready to set up I will be doing 20 gall water changes every 2-3 weeks. I just fill the can up near the tank that is getting the water change the day before and get it ready then do the water change the next day.

To add on to tendar's comment you could also put a pump in the storage container use it to mix the SW then drain your tank to the desired level then pump it back up WITH the hose (python system i presume) using some kind of addapter to hook it up...HTH

when you buy youre contaner to mix fresh salt in i reccomend you get the 45? gallon brute(grey),not the 33 gallon roughneck(assuming youre going to use a rubbermaid trash can like most of us )the brute is "food -safe" the roughneck is not .rubbermaid says the roughneck will leach chemicals into youre water, especially "hungry" water like ro/di.
to add to mastaj's reccomendation, you will also want a small submersible heater to go with the pump,so you can get youre water up to temp. .always mix youre NSW at least 24 hours in advance to let the ph stabilize.hth
