Butterfly acting funny

I recently got a threafin butterfly fish. He was doing great, but recently he's just been acting funny. He spends time on his side floating towards the top and then he'll start swimming around but weird. It all started after i did a small water change (I do 5-10 gallons a week in my 54 gal). I am hesitant about adding any kind of treatment because i had a Koran angel that died and killed off my whole family after adding melafax(?) for a cloudy eye. I tested my water and everything was perfect. Ph is a 8.0 and all the levels were at -0-. Any suggestions or ideas?? Should i put him in my other tank i have set up to age my saltwater??

HELP!! I dont want another one of my pretty fish to die!!!

What others do you have in the tank with him? What do you feed ? Is it possible that you did your water change with contaminated water?I would not treat in the main tank.

Thumbs down

the trouble with most 'pretty fish' is that they require some type of experience.
BF fish are really not suitable for the inexperienced or newly setup systems.

best to set up a small hospital tank to treat.
if the fish has stopped eating you want to intervene soon. treat with a general antibiotic, tough to pin point exact diseases like what you describe. possibly a swim bladder ailment.
