Question These two clowns together...?

Hey Guys, will a percula clown be alright with a pair of clarkies in a 72 gal. with about 120# of LR? The percula is about the same size as the male clarkie with the female being about 30% larger...plenty of holes and caves but I wasn't sure if the clarkie will do a seek and destroy mission...

Just going through the Saltwater forum and digging up posts that have no replies.

My recommendation is that you would be better off in a 72-gal tank with only one species of clownfish, especially if the species you currently have is Amphiprion clarkii. Mature Clark's Clownfish are fairly large (males and females are approximately the same size, 4" SL) and relatively more aggressive than most other species of clownfish. Unless you have a 125-gal or larger tank, I think it would be safer to not mix any other species of clownfish with your pair of Clark's.

Firefish,

I had a pair of clarkii's and a pair of percs in a 72G bowfront. They started off ok together but as the female clarkii grew larger than all of the others she became very aggressive (even beyond "her territory"). She chased and nipped at the percs forcing them to hide.

End result was I had to pull the percs....turns out they are much happier in their little 40G now!

Thanks, better late then never I would've put them into my 155 but I'm planning on turning that into a Trigger / Lion fish / M. Eel and maybe a puffer tank??? I brought the percula back to the lfs and got a credit slip...towards a bigger and better skimmer for the 155.
