green wolf eel

Does any one know anything about these? My LFS told me they would be fine with hermit crabs, I thought most eels have good crushing teeth. I am going to be stocking my aquarium soon and don't want to put the wrong creatures together!

thanks

I would bet the Eel will eat the crabs but you can look at www.fishbase.org or www.wetwebmedia.com for more detailed info.

HI:
green wolf eeels are infact psuedochromis fish(not an eel at all). These are mean , mean, mean. I suspect they will leave hermiots alone. Mine did nothing but try to eat all its tankmates. When they are small their pretty cool fish, but they get to be about 12-18" long and thick as a bike tire.
Mine would spend the day mouthing the backside of my fish to see if he could sallow it, when he eventually reached the right size he would then eat the fish. Personally they are great in fish only tank w/ large tankmates, but new additions will be tested.
my opinion

you can have crabs with shells. wolf eels aren't technically true eels. they're members of the dottyback family. i own a female eel and 3 hermit crabs. she hasn't even sniffed at them. i wouldnt put any pepermint crabs or other cleaners. so far small snails and starfish ar okay too. by small i mean baby small. they sprouted from my live rock. if you want to put a male and a female together, put the female in first to establish territory.
