46 gallon bow questions
My office would like to buy a 46g bow tank/stand for a FOWLR tank. I would like to know what types of filtration methods that were used that proved successful (wet-dry, canister etc) and a good skimmer recommendation. There will not be any predatory fish in the tank, and I will also use a sand bed.
Thanks |

Well, you've already said you plan to include live rock and a sand bed. If you add a good protein skimmer to this, that's really all the filtration you need. Depending on the layout of your tank, you may also want another powerhead for circulation.
What's described above is all the filtration I have on my tank. For two years, it has kept a pygmy angel happy, and last time I checked, there were no nitrates either. Check around for recommendations for a good protein skimmer for this size tank. |

I agree with Forge , live rock , a good sand bed (4-5 inches)and provisions to move the water around , whether that would be your can filter and powerheads or just powerheads. You have lots of choices for skimmers . Are you planning on having a sump on this set-up ?That will also have an impact on which skimmer you choose.
