triggers

my cousin just setup a 90 gal FO tank, for filtration he has 1 W/D filter rate for 150 gal (he didnt tell me what brand it was) and 1 fluval 404.

its either gonna be a community or predator tank, if he goes predator what should he get? (like real nasty/odd fish)... he wanted me to ask if he can keep a clown trigger in it (even tho i would rather see a clown trigger in a 125 gal) <-- because of the size of his tank i think im gonna talk him into some more peaceful/small fish

I think he would be fine with a trigger in a 90. He could get a couple of Clarkie Clowns if they are all similar in size. The clarkie is a little more agressive then most other clowns and can hold their own quite well, mine have anyway with my trigger. He'll just have to remember that most inverts are a great snack for triggers! My Pink Tail Trigger is my most favorite in the tank They ( Trigger, Tang, P. Angle, 2 Clarkies, Grammer) All did realy well in my 72 for a few months while I moved. The 200 lbs. of LR provided plenty of caves and property for each to call their own. fwiw...

clown triggers can and have lived peacefully for years with other tank mates ,but its always going to be a risk. temperment with this species seems to vary. however, as they grow and they grow fast because they gorge themselves with food, they may wreak havoc with their mates.
they have been known to kill large Nasos, angels and lionfish.

he wouldnt believe me that lions are fair game... yeah clowns are mean! i got bit by a 3" clown trigger once, blood everywhere.
