Dwarf Lion Tank mates
Well, I ditched the Reef Idea and got a Dwarf Lion. He's about 1 1/2 inches in my 15 gallon tank. There is a 1 inch Green Spotted puffer fish in there right now. They seem to not mind each other.
What other tank mates can I put in? I want to put in like 1 or 2 more fish at the most. BUt right now just seems there's alot of wastd space. |

both those fish will get to big for that tank, get a 55g plus for them, then you could add an eel or something

I would recommend not putting anything else in the tank. The guys you have tend to be messy eaters and that (excess food ) combined with the relatively small amount of water can and will lead to big changes in water chemistry very rapidly. Also , as Mike said , these guys will be needing a new home soon.

Thanks 4 the info. I had a BTA + maroon clown, Fairy Basslet, + Cardinal Bangii The Puffer + a scooter blenny originally. (with cleanup crew) but got rid of them because of the reef maintenance. The nitrates/trites ammonia were always 0. Tank is about a year old now.
My puffer fish hasn't grown in the 8 months I've had him. The only one that grew a little was the Maroon. I'll put them in a tank once they get bigger. I figured since I had 5 fish in there plus anenome, I thought I could put in a 3rd fish now. |

You had to much of a bioload in the 15 gallon when it was a 'reef' tank. A reef tank is lower maint then a fish only once you have it going. The fish that you had in your 15 gallon reef should have been in a 55-75 gallon reef.

Isnt the Green spot puffer a Brackish fish. They dont get very big and depending on the dwarf lion you got It will max out at around 5". I do agree in not putting in any more fish but with like a 40 gall tank would be good for these fish and probably add another smaller fish or 2 but you would have to make sure they are close to the size of the lion and there is a decent chance he will eat them.

Well, the guys are now adjusted to their new 30 gallon tank... my tanks keep getting bigger and bigger by the year. Well, at least I have some time to think about what hardware setup I should do when I get my 60 next year.
So my current setup has 1 Green Chromis (other one died) 1 Porky Puff 1 Scooter Blenny 1 Fuzzy 1 Greenspot. Here's some pics... ![]() http://xtreme-x.com/aquatics/saltwat...on_chill_1.jpg http://xtreme-x.com/aquatics/saltwat...786_puff_1.jpg |
