Woohoo 30 gallons!

Alrighty! Well, I am finally upgrading my 15 gallon to a 30 gallon.

Current inhabitants...
1 Fuzzy Dwarf Lion
2 green spotted Puffer
1 Scooter Blenny.
Bunch of Mushrooms
Few Hermit Crabs
Few Turbo Snails.

All have been in the tank together for about 7 months now and chuggin along.

15lbs of Live Rock.

Wanted to put more fish that'll get along with these guys in the 30 gallon. (I DONT want any clown fish)

Any suggestions? Oh... I also dont want to add too much more rock (I want to give em some swim space)

You probably dont want to hear this and also probably have , but I would not recommend putting anymore fish than what you already have into a 30 gallon. JMO.

I was considering because (I NEVER see the Dwarf Lion except when he eats, just sits under the rocks or side of the glass. Hardly moves. the puffers and the Scooter down take up much space no matter where they swim...) So there's alot of Wasted space even in my 15 gallon. Thought I might be able to put in a few more.

You have to take into consideration the load the fish puts on the system also , not just how much room he takes up in the tank. This is why sometimes tanks seem to be very lightly populated yet have such poor water quality.

Just to be a little contrary here, and remember what Blue Tuna said is quite right, but the metabolism of the fish plays a role in water quality too. You can have more slow fish like you have than active fish like I have.

But on the other hand because you have a preditor tank, your choices are rather limited. Very limited. The only thing I can think of is an eel.

The fish in my tank are 1 to 1 1/2 inches. Where the lion is 2 inches. I've got live sand and the rock, and the water quality has maintained itself and i do water changes every week. I just don't like the idea of having a descent sized tank and I can only see 2 small fish in it is all... It kind of defeats the purpose of why I got a tank in the first place I guess, which is why I wanted to consider another fish or 2 in there.

I understand what you're saying and I'm sure you're diligent about tank housekeeping. The reason I'm saying your choices in fish is limited is because of your lion fish. I'm assuming you have a Dendrochirus dwarf lionfish of some variety. I don't know which one "fuzzy" refers to, but adult dwarf lionfish reach 6" in length. Therefore a fish of suitable size for a 30 gal tank might also be a suitable size for a lionfish snack. So I would think that cardinals, basslets, damsels, clownfish, gobies and hawkfish are out. Dwarf angel might be OK but the tank size is a little tight.

On the other hand you say the lionfish is only 2". Maybe go ahead and try a couple of clowns, maybe a small wrasse like the 6 line, or an anthias maybe.

I was recommended a Flame angel, but someone else mentioned they might eat the mushrooms. I was looking at the Porky puffers but they need huge tanks...

Are there any "Miniature" bred Porcupines out there?

Yeah, flame angel would most likely eat at your mushrooms, also they are very active and would feel confined in a small tank. The coral beauty is less likely to eat 'shrooms and is a little more placid, but I can't believe how BIG mine is getting.

I agree, porcupine puffers are the coolest. I love that little face. I've never heard of miniature, but maybe.....

Well, I don't know how long you've been doing this hobby, but I've discovered that tanks are like potato chips, you can't have just one. I see a big tank with a big porcupine puffer in your future.

Well... the tank has arrived and is sitting in my living room.

Thanks for all your feedback. Well, I don't want to do the 1lbs of rock per gallon rule because I want some swimming room. So I am just gonna use my 15lbs of aptasia infested live rock I have right now in my 15 gallon tank. Gonna add about 15lbs more of live sand too.

So the Scooter blenny, the Fuzzy Dwarf, and the Green spotted puffers will be moving in. I looked at the tank and my fish are pretty tiny in the tank. Definitely want to put in more fish. Are there any other recommended wrasses besides the 6line you guys recommend?
