Yellow Tang Question
I have a Yellow Tang that is just plain pathetic looking. He has an apparent insatiable appetite yet seems malnourished. He has a pale face and some ratty fins. The environment seems ok and none of his / her tank mates suffer the same ailments. I added a grounding probe this week.
Fed red and blue algae daily. Brine and bloodworms soaked in Fishtamin and flake. Only other comparably sized tank mate is a Jewel Damsel but they get along fine. Any suggestions? -Chris |

I have had good luck soaking frozen brine and/or flake foods in selcon before feeding. I also grow caulerpa in my sump , so there is always plenty in the tank to graze on all day long. I think that is one of the key factors , making food available constantly .those guys do seem to eat alot all the time.HTH.

My friend feeds his romaine lettuce. He just tosses a piece in the tank and the Tang nibbles on it all day.

Thanks for the welcome Blue Tuna. Its funny, I have actually been registered here for a year but have never posted, I kinda lurk.
=P I run 2 vBulletin forums that are non fish related and it consumes alot of my time. I will be spending some more time here as I have once again undertaken the monumental task of maintaining a reef. I'll post a picture so you can see what he looks like. Other than his appearance, he seems quite robust. Thanks again guys! -Chris |

I have a lipstick tang that was really healthy for about 6 months and then seemed to start to get really skinny, but was eating like crazy. I bought some food that was for parasites and fed it to the fish for 3 days straight and now my lipstick is fine. Nothing was wrong with the other fish. You might ask you lfs if they have the food for parasites. Good luck. Sendie
