HELP! ro water? hissing?
HELP! ro water? hissing?
i have just got my ro unit and attached it to the hma and it is sort of hissing? does it always do this or is it letting out of the gas? also is it best to discard the first few gallons that it makes? |

Could you tell us more about the hissing? Where does it sound like it's coming from? My initial thought is you will probably hear some air escaping until the unit is completely full of water and may hear it a bit longer while it pushes out some air pockets.
Most manufacturers do recommend to throw out the first couple of gallons of water; I threw out the first 5 gallons I beleive. Regards, Scott Z. |

yeah it sounds like it is coming from in the ro tube, if that makes sens, so it is probably the air escaping,
okay ill chuck the first few gallons away and then get the filling underway ![]() |

Keep your "ear" on the hissing sound as well. If after running a few gallons of water you still hear it, one of the fittings may be loose and need to be tightened or have some more teflon tape wrapped around the threads.

so its basically just a tightening thing, will it effect the water quality?

No, not at all. There are multiple fittings on the unit that the hoses connect in to and if one of them is hissing the air then you just tighten it a bit, nothing that will affect the water quality. Are you running the unit now and if so, is it still hissing?

Is it still there? Mine hissed for the first 2-4 hours then all was fine... I have noticed production has increased as well after the first weak or so it was in operation...

noit has quietened down a bit which is good as it was making a racket, and i think it has increased output a bit, but ill have to do a test for that it could just be a change in the water pressure.
