durso.. and return questions..
im just wondering this for a long time..
my sump is being fixed, well anyway, when i plumbed my sump in, and tried to ' tune' the flow of the return and durso, i found that at times, initially durso would SUCK too fast and it'd sound like a toilet bowl,, but then after tweaking the water flowed in and the durso seemed okay, but the water inside the 'in tank overflow' increased in height slowly.. so im kind of puzzled and uncertain about how to tune or what i should do.. i dont want a flood or what not.. should i mod my durso?? maybe extend the intake more deeper?? the end cap on the durso has a hole drilled and a air valve on the top.. fearing flood. but i dunno how return works.. thanks.. |

Play with the amount of air allowed in the durso pipe. If the durso is sucking too fast, it needs more air. If you only have 1 hole in the top and use a little valve, try to take the valve out; if it is still not getting enough, add another small hole. My durso has 3 very small holes in the top of it to stop it from syphoning too quickly.

The water level in mine is just about to the top of the 90 degree elbow on the standpipe and does not flucuate at all. AS long as the cap is fitted tightly, I don't think it will be a problem, try to mess with the air.

You shouldn't have to watch it but for a couple of minutes and really it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. With mine, all I needed to do was give it access to more air than it needed and it was stable. If it continues to rise a fall thus causing gurgling, it needs more air.
